Is there a firewall box that can be powered by PoE+? ~ 25 watts or less?
There are larger firewall options with a built in PSU, and smaller ones that use an external DC power supply. Most of those firewalls pull less than 25W, so it seems like this variant should exist??

I'm looking for something that does around a gigabit with mixed traffic (~ SG3100 performance) with at least 3 NIC's.

@valnar https://www.pfsense.org/products/ looks like it has idle power requirements of the devices. Most of them have a 12VDC brick at various current, newer devices have threaded connectors.
So if you have PoE source that can provide it, I'd guess you need to find something with the correct connector.

But that is just from me looking at listed specs, not from any hands on experiments.

Mmm, I'm not aware of anything that has PoE built in but you can get external PoE supplies. Effectively a PoE to 12V adapter.

Ehh. I guess I'll stick with my APU2. I was hoping to save a plug since these things are so low powered, but it isn't a priority.

But a very good point, and hopefully something Netgate will consider an option going forward...
There are so many things that would REALLY benefit from offering a PoE powered option (Firewalls, IoT devices, speakers and what not). I wish it would become much more normal to use.

Love the no fuss of using the official appliances :-)
