Route traffic out and back in
-
I just setup a home automation server. I have NAT setup and can gain access when not on LAN. I want to be able to connect to this while on the LAN. I can not setup 2 connections in app. Any help is appreciated.

By nat you probably mean port forward.
Use dns "override"
While on lan, your device will query for the ip and pf will return internal ip. When remote, public dns will return the wan ip, and you will reach the target via port forward.Works amazingly well, for years.

Yeah, DNS override or NAT reflection:
