        You CANNOT install packages from the current release branch onto older editions of pfSense. Doing so will break your firewall! Unfortunately the Package Install and Update screen does not make this clear. It will happily go out to the "new" packages repo and attempt to install whatever is there onto your firewall. Generally that results in a broken system as then you get version mismatches between critical shared libraries.

        You need to first update to the most current pfSense version. For third-party hardware that is CE version 2.5.2. For Netgate appliances, that would be pfSense Plus version 21.05.2.

        The packages repo is always maintained for the most recently released version of pfSense. That means each time a new version of pfSense is released, all of the packages are recompiled for the new version. That immediately makes them not current for older versions of pfSense.

        There is an option on the SYSTEM > UPDATE page to set your repo to "Previous Stable Version (deprecated)". I think that's the way it is worded. Doing that will sometimes let you install Packages from the older repo that matches. However, you are several versions behind, so I am not sure that approach will work for you.

            @cobain

            Select the latest 'stable' version here :

            39d723e7-3852-4d70-bae1-11a883b23822-image.png

            ( I'm using the CE version, yours might show differently ).

            Ones selected, hit the "Upgrade" button.
            Done **.

            ** When updating from the latest version to the last stable version, there are actually not much changes.

            You are trying to update Windows XP (2.4.5-p1) to Windows 10 (2.5.2 or 21.05.2), chances that issues arrive are greater. With a backed up copy of the config, you don't risk anything. You can always get a fresh copy pfSense (2.5.2 or 21.05.2 from Netgate), install it, then import the config, and done. This time it's "done" without reserves.

            No "help me" PM's please. Use the forum, the community will thank you.
            Edit : and where are the logs ??

              Should have no problems. But what you want is version 21.05.2, not 21.02. I assume that you have a Netgate appliance, as that version is pfSense Plus only.

                Yes open a ticket to get the latest reinstall image if you do bot have 21.05.2 already:

                We did put in place measure to prevent installing incorrect packages. I know that works in 2.4.5p1 from a clean install since I recently tested trying to break it. If you came from an older version that than though it may be possible.
