Bricked? Blinked red when factory reset...
-
Hi guys,
Not a happy moment, I changed a config on the built-in switch I shouldn't have and had to reset. So I googled, and found inconclusive instructions, same at Netgate docs (or I failed to find it) on how to reset the 2100. So I ended up starting it up from off, held the reset button pressed for at while. What happened was all three leds starts blinking red... Not a good sign. When rebooted, that is what it does, just reboots. I have created a ticket regarding this, but is there anything I can do about this?
Thanks -
That's what's supposed to happen. You hold the button until it reaches the point int he boot where it reads it. Then all three LEDs start to flash red to indicate it's resetting and you can release the button. Then it reboots into the default config.
It it fails to boot to the default then connect to the console to see what's happening.

@stephenw10 Thanks for clarifying. I found no mention of the red blinking anywhere, probably not looking at the right place.
It was easy enough to fix with excellent help from TAC Lite support. A few fsck did the trick. I will be more careful of how I use the reset button from now on, always initiating from within pfSense when at all possible... :)
