When you are first setting up new Netgate/Pfsense firewalls...and if they are not connected to the Internet....they are very slow moving between screens. When it is put into production and has Internet...that issue goes away....is there a reason why this occurs and can it be turned off while setting up the firewalls?

@paulhds DNS lookups have to time out. Notes say this will be fixed in 22.01:
      https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/releases/22-01_2-6-0.html#web-interface

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.
