Does anyone have any experience or could someone tell me any specifics on how to manage PFsense via the command line. I know config file contents based in xml format but what other issues might i have trying to manage. For example if i modify the config file what would i need to do to force it to re-read the configuration etc etc..
      Any ideas would be appreciated.

        Why would you want that?

Simply to provide a single uniform way of managing the firewalls. I maintain 25+ firewalls and being able to script some of the management would be very helpful.

Then pfSense is probably not for you.  There is no centralized management system for pfSense and the webGUI is the way to administer the system.
