Re: Dynamic DNS update to IPv6 host

My ISP only gives out BOGON IP addresses for ipv4, which are basically useless (non routable). But my ISP does give out an ipv6 /64 network as well as an ipv6 ip for my home setup, which is running pfSense. I don't see an option in the dynamic dns server in pfSense how to select, either an ipv4 an ipv6 or both for which ip and record to update? I don't really even use ipv4 now, and would like to have my AAAA record updated with my ipv6 address.

@hemna said in DynamicDNS for ipv6?:

        gives out BOGON IP addresse

Really, What specific range, or do you mean CGnat range, which I guess is yeah bogon ;) 100.64/10 or rf1918..

To set your IPv6 address you would want to pick one of the services that will do your IPv6 address

You will notice I highlighted ones on the first part of the long list of ddns providers supported.

thank you that wasn't obvious. I thought that was the v6 of the provider's api version.

Does your IPv6 address change? There's a setting to not release the IPv6 address which, with many ISPs, makes the address virtually static. My prefix actually survived replacing, at different times, the modem and the computer I run pfsense on.

PfSense running on Qotom mini PC
i5 CPU, 4 GB memory, 32 GB SSD & 4 Intel Gb Ethernet ports.
            UniFi AC-Lite access point

            I haven't lost my mind. It's around here...somewhere...
