Can I limit the network throughput of some specific hosts(in the backend)
-
Dear Users,
recently I deployed my first production version of PFsense and it is working like a charm.
Now, I noticed that two hosts, running in the backend and belonging to the same network, are producing a huge network traffic (from backend to the WAN) and I would like to limit them using traffic shaping. Can I limit the network traffic only for these two hosts leaving the others servers, on the same network, without any particular restriction?
If yes, could you please provide me some example or howtos in order to try to implement this scenario? Many thanks in advance,

@mauro-tridici Yep, you make a traffic shaper/limiter and apply it to a host or hosts in a LAN firewall rule.
Here's how to do it. This guy traffic shapes specifically to get high-priority for streaming devices and services, so not necessarily like your setup. But, this will give you an idea of how to setup a limiter.

This one is on an entire interface, so kinda like what you're looking to do. You simply need to expand a little bit and use the IP addresses of your two hosts as the "source" in your firewall rule.

Hope that helps you get a good start. There's tons more examples on Youtube, just search for one that's maybe more specific.
