Will an Atom 2758 and 16GB RAM be sufficient to drive a 10G network and packages?

      Hi

I'm wondering if this board (Supermirco A1SRi-2758F running an Atom 2758 CPU) with 16GB EEC memory is sufficient to run pfSense smoothly and without hiccups?

I'm planning to install a pci intel x520 (10G network adapter in the motherboard)

      My requirement/setup:

      • 1G/s WAN connection
      • 10G/s LAN network
      • 10G/s TrueNAS server
      • 10G/s Dell r630 running a hypervisor
      • 15 VLANs
      • HaProxy package
      • Surricuta package
      • pfBlockerNG
      • Running a Zabbix agent

Any comments and feedback is welcome

It won't pass 10Gbps but it will run fine.

@stephenw10 thanks for your reply. Why will it not pass 10G? Because of the CPU?

Yes. I would expect somewhere in the 3-4Gbps range depending on traffic type, packet size, latency etc. Adding packages will reduce that.

@stephenw10 okay. Thanks. If I go with a D-1521, would that enable 10G-ish traffic?

It wouldnt pass 600mbit/s with an Atom CPU in that config.

It would certainly be a lot closer. I've never used one of those so I can't be sure what you would see.
