      Hi!

I have Pfsense virtualized inside XCP-NG host. Today there were some improper server restarts due to lack of power.
When the server restarted, the pfsense system time changed to bizarre values that '2097-12-31 21:20:00'. In another restart, change time to '2037-03-22 22:45:00' I attached part of ntp log bellow:

      ntp_log.txt

Does anyone have any idea how this could have happened?

      Thanks a lot!

      Best Regards,
      Felipe Fonseca

Did you see anything similar on other VMs?

        Are you running pfSense 2.6?

The system time is determined by whatever the hypervisor is sending for the system clock. If if was using a much earlier time, like 1970/1/1, pfSense will see that and set the clock at boot to the most recent known time source but not if it's ahead already.
