System Patches update on 2.5.2
-
I see an update for package System Patches on pfSense v2.5.2. Is this safe to update or is this meant for 2.6.0 only?
-
@revengineer If you are on 2.5.2 you must go to System/Update and change to the prior version of pfSense before installing packages. See my sig. Otherwise you'll end up installing a package for a later version which may try to upgrade other software.

@steveits Thank you. I did change the update train to 2.5.2 a while ago. The System Patches update showed up after I made that change. Do I infer correctly that as long as the update train matches the installed pfSense version, the packages are safe to update?
-
@revengineer yes, just has to be the same version.

There is an update for System Patches on Plus 21.05/CE 2.5.2, even if your update branch is set to stay on Plus 21.05/CE 2.5.2.
We put an update there to add the recommended patches list populated with important security and stability fixes for people who couldn't upgrade to 2.6.0 right away.
