SG-1100 Corrupted
-
Hi All,
I have an out of warranty SG-1100 that I am having issues with.
When trying to 'run usbrecovery' it begins to boot, then loops through fsck maybe a dozen times before dropping back to the shell.
I have tried zeroing mmcsd0 (as below) to provide it with a clean disk, but still have the same problem.
# sysctl kern.geom.debugflags=0x10 kern.geom.debugflags: 0 -> 16 # dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/mmcsd0 status=progress bs=128k dd: /dev/mmcsd0: end of device 59649+0 records in 59648+0 records out 7818182656 bytes transferred in 363.891100 secs (21484952 bytes/sec)
I have tried a 2.4.5 USB image as well as a 22.01 image.
I'm thinking the eMMC may be dead, or flash/spi0 has something to do with the boot process and could be corrupted, however I don't dare try and wipe that!
Any help would be very much appreciated!

Mmm, that does look like it has failed to erase the eMMC which can indicate it has failed.
Have you opened a TAC ticket to review it?

Hi @stephenw10
Thanks for getting back! The unit is out of warranty so I felt that would be a bit cheeky.
-
If it's a hardware or install/recovery issue then we can help you there. They can at least review the full logs.
-
That's great service thanks! I've opened a ticket, I'll update this post once resolved in case it's a fix that might help others.
Thanks again!
