      Hi,

I setup dhcpv6 on my pfsense box and its giving the leases out to the lan interface but my windows vm with up to date virtio drivers is saying no network connectivity for ipv6 but i can ping using ipv6.

      any help?

      Many thanks

@skyberry I have seen multiple Windows Server computers show a warning about having no Internet connection, when in fact it's working fine. We have one of our main VM servers in our office that says that, I know, but I think I've seen it on physical servers also. There are some tests Windows runs to verify connectivity, but in my experience even if they pass Windows Server might say it doesn't have a connection. I just ignore the warning.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

@steveits if you disconnect the ipv4 do you lose network connectivity across the board?

@skyberry well the one server I can get to easily doesn’t use IPv6. Did I misunderstand your issue? Are you saying 4 is working but 6 is not?

@steveits When i turn off v4 on the vm i lose internet connection because windows thinks i have no v6 connectivity

I have tested it on a container to make sure that dhcpv6 is working

@skyberry I see. Usually when I see the tray icon it is just wrong.

Does the VM have an IPv6 gateway? If I recall, DHCP v6 doesn't set a gateway, by design, because the router is supposed to announce it.
