      In the documentation found here:

      https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/troubleshooting/high-availability-virtual.html#esx-physical-nic-failure-fails-to-trigger-failover

It mentions "One way around this is to script an event in ESX that will take down the switch port on the VM if the physical port loses link". Does anyone know where to find such a script that is spoken of? I've searched the forums, but could not find anything.

We have an HA setup running, which works well if one of the pfsense nodes in the cluster go down completely, but if a physical link failure occurs on the WAN side, both nodes assume the master role because the virtual port link stays active, even though the underlying physical link is down. If I go into the vSphere client and then disconnect the virtual port on the wan side then it fails over properly.
