I guess it is far good enough to run PF.
Howhever it seems that installation has to be done via RS232 because there is no CD, disquette, VGA card..
Here is the feedback from a debian installation. So I'm not a unix guru at all, do you think I need special skills to install PFSense via network on this box ? Installation by CD was so easy on the old IBM desktop..
Any advices, feedbacks are strong welcomed ;)
Best regards,
Thibault

Bad news I'm afraid.
Sun UltraSPARC IIe V9 Superscalar Processor 500MHZ
This system uses SPARC instead of x86 (Which is the only platform pfsense runs on). I have this exact system kicking around my house, but haven't done much with it except get opensolaris running on it.

Argh :-[ I should have RTFM before..
I'll refuse the parcel when It gets to me and ask to swap it with a [b]HP/Compaq DL380 G2 Dual 1.1GHZ/1024MB/2x18GB S20198
This one is dual pentium III with VGA, keyb, cd and so on.Thanks for your help, you saved me a lot of headaches ;)

And exactly that Compaq is dropping packets and are really unstable running PfSense…..
I swapped it for a 1U Xeries 335 from IBM.
It has been running for a year now, and absolutely no problems at all!

Damn the seller will turn mad :-X
Is this a common behavior on those DL380? Or maybe you had no luck with yours ?
I should search for a compatibility list on the forum. -

Sorry but what does this mean ?
Netra T1 is listed in the compatibility list http://www.freebsd.org/releases/7.0R/hardware.html#PROC-SPARC64 -
Tried it on 3 different DL380 machines, and they performed really poor…. I have 2 of them standing in my basement doing absolutely nothing.
You can get the 335 of ebay for 100$, and it is very fast running pfsense and very stable.
I have modified it, so I can run CF cards from it. I intend to swap it for an Innodisk attached directly to the master IDE socket.
Then it should have sufficient I/O capability :)

Netra T1 is listed in the compatibility list http://www.freebsd.org/releases/7.0R/hardware.html#PROC-SPARC64This just means that FreeBSD would run on the SPARC.
However pfSense is only built for x86.
Future releases of pfSense will probably built for other architectures as well. -
HP DL380 G3 and G4 runs well.
