      I know I need suitable switches etc but my bigger issue is readying my beloved PfSense box 😊

        Depends how they are presenting the link to you. If it's 2.5GbaseT there are several igc(4) supported NICs you can use. Including those on the 4100.

          I have a custom built appliance, specs as below:
          Intel G5400
          4GB RAM
          SSD
          Intel Dual GB NIC

          If these are still your system specs, simply swapping the Intel Dual GB NIC for something like this will do it. Unless you've got extra card slots, then just add one for some extra ports.

          Just watch out for counterfeit cards...
