Machine Hangs At "Starting DHCP Service…" For Long Periods At Boot
-
Hi,
I'm running pfsense 1.2.2, and it works perfectly while it's up, but starting the machine seems to take a loooooooooong time. Whenever I boot the machine, it hangs at "Starting DHCP Service…", sometimes for 2 minutes, sometimes for longer (I've seen it hang there for about 8 minutes before). I'm running DHCP on 3 out of my 5 interfaces, and I don't seem to have any trouble once the machine boots, but needless to say, rebooting the machine can take up to 10 minutes sometimes. My question is, why is my machine hanging so long when trying to start DHCP? What can I do to troubleshoot this?

What do the logs show?

Unfortunately, not much…I see the entries in the log where dhcpd is starting, and then there's nothing until the next service starts. Here's a good example:

If you can email me a backup of your config (cmb at pfsense dot org) and reference this forum thread, I'll see if I can replicate that using your config.
