upgrading 2.4.4-RELEASE-p3 (amd64)
-
Hello everyone,
I'm using version 2.4.4-RELEASE-p3 (amd64) but my Pfsense doesn't see any packages online anymore and it reports: "The system is on the latest version."
Is there someone who has had the same problem ?
i was thinking about upgrading my firewall...Thank You!

@brian-smit
I have not had that problem , as i upgraded to 2.4.5-P1 loong time ago (on my oldest box) , the rest is running CE-2.6.0 or 22.01+What i would do if i were you ....
Warning.... Will format your pfSense harddisk.
But install is super fast , and restore config is "easy".1:
Take a config backup of the 2.4.4 Box (Super important)
Diagnostic --> Backup & Restore --> Download Config as XML.
Save XML config on Laptop or Desktop.
Maybe make a note of which packages you have installed.2:
Download the latest pfSense CE-2.6.0 , and make a USB Bootstick.3:
Boot on the new USB Bootstick , and install make the harddisk ZFS
Remember to select minimum one (Hard)disk for ZFS , or the installer will complain.
Do NOT select your USB stick by mistake ...4:
Complete the installer , and let it boot.5:
Connect Laptop/Desktop to pfSense "Old Lan interface" , "not WAN"
Let laptop get a DHCP ip address.
https to 192.168.1.1 , pfsense admin screen on a "new install".
login w. "default credentials".6:
Go to
Diagnostic --> Backup & Restore
Scroll down to Restore Backup
"Restore area all"
Select Configuration file (The XML you saved above)
Make sure WAN is connected to Internet (for package restore)
Press Restore configurationNow pfSense will boot with your "Old configuration file" , and when done you
should have a fresh CE-2.6.0 install running, with your old configuration file active.7:
In some occations , a few of the packages will fail to (re)install.
They can easily be reinstalled manually.
You could verify installed packages against the list you made above.DONE
I can usually do this in less that 20 min.
