PPPoE Client Auth Type

Hello All,

My backwards ISP has informed me that to use static IP's I need to auth with PAP - despite the fact most of the modern world has moved onto more secure CHAP authentication.

sigh

I had a go at forcing PAP without much luck - edited /etc/inc/interfaces.inc :
set link disable pap chap
set link accept pap

Which changes how mpd.conf is generated, but doesn't work - still tried to auth with CHAP (despite mpd.conf only accepting pap for outgoing auth).

Any ideas? Where am I going wrong?
