      Hello everyone,

My clients do get IP-address and all works great, but sometimes (just a few laptops) do have a internal IP-address , they have a working network connection just no internet...

I basically "solved" it by giving one of the problem laptops a static IP and this seems to run stable.

Someone knows what would be the issue here ? Or where i can search?

      Thank you !

@brian-smit said in DHCP server | working great but:

So they can ping pfsense IP, ie their gateway? They didn't loose their lease and go to a 169.254 address?

        Is dns working for them?

          Exactly!

DNS doesn't work when the problem occurs

@brian-smit so they are still on their normal address is some rfc1918 address, not the APIPA 169.254 address.

You sure just not an issue with your unbound restarting with dhcp reservations.. Has been a long time issue where when a lease is issued or renewed, etc. that unbound restarts and if your using pfblocker that can cause start up delays, etc. this can present itself as dns not working - but its just dns is restarting.

One solution to that is not register dhcp leases in unbound settings.
