    Is there a way to redirect a local address from a 'short name'. What I mean is I have a Raspberry Pi with a few servers on 192.168.2.60:3000, 192.168.2.60:8112, 192.168.2.60/emoncms etc, I would like to have these resolve from say graf, deluge and emoncms shortcut names rather than typing in the longer IP addresses because it would be easier to remember !

      @randombits

      DNS would resolve a name to an ip address only.
      Not anything related to :<portnumber> or /<webpage>

      Ie. you could resolve
      graf to 192.168.2.60 , but not 192.168.2.60:3000

      You could make aliases for all of them, resolving to ie raspberry.

      Make :
      raspberry an A record pointing to 192.168.2.60
      graf an alias (cname) pointing to raspberry
      deluge an alias (cname) pointing to raspberry
      emoncms an alias (cname) pointing to raspberry

      And use
      graf:3000
      deluge:8112
      emoncms/emoncms
