Can pfsense support POS (packets over sonet)?
Also can it be used for a WAN or is it mainly for ethernet?
Can pfsense reassemble ATM cells and output as ethernet packets?

FreeBSD has little support for WAN-type hardware. Just use a front-end router to output ethernet. Pfsense is a firewall, you wouldn't connect your WAN circuit directly to an ASA or the like either.

Actually FreeBSD with the right hardware can do it but pfSense does not support any such types of links.
