SG-2100 Dead Before 2 Years

Installed a 2100 at the in-laws in Nov 2020 and it died yesterday. No indicator LEDs, no network activity, etc.
Power supply checks out with meter but don’t have a test load to really check it. Tried another good power supply and still no luck. It sat behind an APC UPS with lots of other still working hardware such as POE switch and IP cameras.
It is out warranty so this is just a data point for the community. Disappointing it didn’t make 2 years.
Not sure what will be replacement but will look at many alternate options.
Yeah, that's too early. Sorry to hear it, but that can happen for even the best.
Luckily it does not seem to be a common issue - but none the less a very annoying fluke for you in particular... :-( -
If you're in the EU, I think you get 2 years warranty, UK too. I would go back to Netgate and discuss it, as I'd expect it to last a lot longer than 2 years for $349!

Mmm, there are no known early failure modes on the 2100.
I assume there is no output on the console?
Did it have any additional hardware (ssd, wifi cards etc)?
Have you opened a ticket with us to troubleshoot? Though if there is really no sign of life at all there's not much we can do.

@stephenw10 The unit is stock (base). Will try the console but not optimistic.

The three multicolored LEDs on the front won't light until pfSense begins to boot so if it's stuck in uboot for some reason they won't. You should still see the link LEDs on the NIC though.

No link LEDs unfortunately. USB to UART bridge detected but no console output. Time to throw in the towel it appears.[ 100.882787] cp210x 2-2.2:1.0: cp210x converter detected [ 100.893351] usb 2-2.2: cp210x converter now attached to ttyUSB0

Urgh, I'm very sorry about that. Without any output there's nothing to be done though.

@stephenw10 It is what it is. Limping them along on old dd-wrt router until I figure out what to roll the dice on next.

Hey All,
I have had issues with my Netgate SG-2100 device since I purchased it in late May 2021. Two days ago, I reflashed the device because the firmware was corrupt. After installing and configuring, it worked for a day, but on day 2, the device died with all the network ports solid green and no serial connection detected.
I reached out to Rubicon / Netgate, and they said it's out of warranty and won't assist.
In doing some research, I found others with the same experience. Is there a fix for this?If not, does anyone have a suggestion for an alternative device?

@bitlo I think they’ve been out of stock for a while so not sure they could replace yours if they wanted.
Personally I’m not going back to Netgate hardware for the foreseeable future.
