pfsense not seeing pce network adapters

Hi. New here. So I have downloaded pf sense to a computer than I am going to use as my home network firewall. I have two network adapter cards installed into the pci lanes on the motherboard.
on first configuration after fresh install, when it asks to set up wan and lan interfaces, pf sense is not recognizing the network adapters i have installed to the pci express ports.
It is only recognizing the ethernet port on the motherboard as em0 but nothing else, what am i missing? Help please! The computer is an optiplex 7010 and the two network adapters are ASUS PCE-C2500. Perhaps device drivers are needed? If so how to install them. Maybe the cards aren't supported by pf sense.

Seems likely.

Are they supported at all by FreeBSD? Do they have drivers on the ASUS website for FreeBSD? If the answer to both of those is "yes" you will need to follow instructions on the ASUS website to do the installation.

Worth noting: it is possible side-loaded NIC drivers will fail on any software update. You might be better suited at least finding a primary NIC that is supported before pursuing any driver installation.

@rcoleman-netgate no drivers for freeBSD found on asus support. any suggestions? reading the hardware compatibility list gives me a headache lol.

@pjheun If there's no driver at ASUS then there likely are none. Is FreeBSD listed on the ASUS site at all for the device?

As for the HCL for FreeBSD you are most reliably suited with Intel NICs. I would find one you want to get and then check the HCL for that specific device.

@pjheun stupid question but did you try the pciconf -lv command to see if the Asus cards are listed? I recently had the same problem with a realtek RTL8125 chipset card and I have solved loading the latest realtek driver into pfsense....of course my card was listed in pciconf but not present in pfsense interfaces configuration

Yup, run pciconf -lv at the command line to see what those cards actually are.

Edit: Yeah they are Realtek RTL8125 so you''ll need the alt driver to use them.
