XG-7100-1U QUADPORT EXPANSION CARD INSTALLATION
-
Hi Sir @stephenw10
Good day!
Can you help me if the PCIe kit of XG-7100-1U is a default PCIe and compatible with both RJ45 quad-port and Fiber SFP port?
Actually, I bought an XG-7100-1U before, and now I am adding an RJ45 quad-port but upon modifying the expansion card in the firewall, I noticed that the PCIe kit has an excess area when I am inserting the expansion board.
Is it okay if it has an excess area in the kit? Is the quad-port will function even if it's not totally fit in the PCIe?
Please see the attached photo below for your reference.Hope you can help me. Thank you in advance for your help.

Yes, in general, you can fit a PCIe x4 card in an x8 or x16 slot.

Hi Sir @stephenw10,
Is there any configuration that I need to do to enable the new expansion quad-port or it was just a plug and play or just a normal configuration, the same as we configured the existing ports?

Just install the card and boot back into pfSense. The new interfaces will be available for assigning.

Sir @stephenw10,
Since all of them are Flexible WAN/LAN ports right?
And this will need a configuration to make and use a multiple Internet Service Provider (ISP).
I would like to ask also if how many ISP or what is the maximum ISP that can be put in Each of the firewalls of Netgate from SG-1100 up to XG-1541? -
There is no limit I'm aware of. You can add as many 'WANs' as you have interfaces and since those could be VLANs for example that could be any number. You will likely find that adding more doesn't help much beyond, say, 10 unless you have a large number of users/connections.
