Carp Errors [Solved]

Hello all, I receive the following error messages after following the tutorial to setup Carp:
"A communications error occurred while attempting xmlrpc sync with username admin."

I've seen this error reported before, but never saw a resolution for it. I have two pfSense servers connected to each other via a crossover cable. If I perform a tcpdump on both machines I see traffic from the master server going to the slave. Should the slave be passing traffic back?

Unless I resolve this error it doesn't seem like Carp will work at all.

I went through the setup document various times, and resolved the issue.
