I just have a few newbie questions and I know they are :)

I read the update guides etc. It noted uninstalling packages. I havent installed any to my knowledge. Though listed are IPsec Profile wizard and aws wizard, which I believe where preinstalled.

I did do a manual backup of the router. So my question is do I need to uninstall those or just leave them since they are not updated etc just update through the webgui and see what happens?

I have the SG-1100 and very basic setup since im still working on learning its software etc.

Just trying to save myself the headache of a bricked router, by me doing something stupid :)

You can leave those built in packages without issues.
Normally it’s not really needed to uninstall packages to upgrade - it’s just a “extra precautionary action” you can take to remove the most common causes of upgrade failures (but still rare)

Love the no fuss of using the official appliances :-)

@bobsoul congrats on your successful upgrade and for reading the documentation. I had people arguing with me a few days ago that doing so was unreasonable. Faith in pfsense user base somewhat restored!

@bobsoul these guys disagree. They shouldn’t have to read/know the documentation or best practices

Congrats and thank you for taking the time to educate yourself. Really was a breath of fresh air.
