    HA setup however DNS clients use Primary servers DNS

      I was under the assumption that in a HA setup all clients would use the CARP address so that when the fail over occurs DNS does not keep looking at the failed servers DNS.

      I am seeing most of my clients use the correct router but DNS is using the IP of the primary server.

      What am I doing wrong????

        The clients use for DNS, what you tell them to use.
        Enter the CARP IP as DNS server, and the will send request to it.

        If they are configured by DHCP, tell the DHCP to send the CARP IP for DNS.
        In pfSense DHCP server you can enter it at "DNS servers".
