I have managed to get pimd and avahi working on my network without any problems other than 1.

The issue I'm having is devices using the DIAL multiscreen protocol (TV's, Blu-rayplayers, Roku's, chrome casts, mobile devices and other similar devices) . From what I have found out is its a modified version of SSDP. The client sends a request out on the local network to 239.255.255.250 port 1900 from a source port (192.168.0.x:xxxx). I believe udpbroadcastrelay is a solution, but the posts I've seen about it seem to be replacing both avahi and pimd with it. I can understand the avahi but not pimd.

The reason I don't see replacing pimd is that the pim-sm it does works with igmp to manage broadcast traffic on the network, reducing unnecessary broadcast to devices not interested.
Am I wrong on this? For those using udpbroadcastrelay does it conflict with pimd?
Does udpbroadcastrelay have a way of not sending packets to uninterested clients?
