Lost Admin Password

I have to add a rule to my firewall but when I tried to log on, it tells me that my username or password is wrong. Is the only way to fix this via a serial port connection?

Unless you have SSH access with key only perhaps. Or a different account with admin rights you can use.

You might be locked out temporarily if you typo'd the password too many times.

I have only accessed this box via the GUI so I don't have anything else set up :-(

If you know you were not locked out then the console is the only way then.

Maybe add your SSH key while you can.

Playing around I have locked myself out several times. I have the serial cable ready for the 7100 and for the home built I have a monitor and keyboard.
Always be ready for things to go sideways.

@stephenw10 @andyrh Yes, you are right. I need to set things up so that I can get in when/if something like this happens again.
