Complete Novice with Netgate 2100
-
Set the Netgate 2100 last year for home use (three Kids in the house), changed internet provider to Zen (UK) spent the day trying to get the new provider setup. Removed the Netgate 2100 and internet back on.
Tried to login and spent today trying to work out how to do a factory reset that failed. Spent the next few hours trying to get the console drive working with putty and finally got that working. Just to try the password that I thought and got in... full day wasted.
I am in, brilliant!!! I noticed that I needed an upgrade, so proceeded with the upgrade and all successful and needed a reboot…it was in a cycle and did not reboot. After about 30 to 45min I power recycled.
Now I can’t login or find the IP address or the login page. I went back to the console and every option on the menu is not working and displaying errors:
Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'pfSense.so'
Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'intl.so'
Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'ldap.so'
Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'pfSense.so'
Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'xmlreader.so'
Warning: Cannot load module 'pdo_sqlite' because required module 'pdo' is not lo aded in Unknown on line 0
I am unsure what do next so sorry I am very new to PFsense and really struggling. -
@v2jtb That sounds like the upgrade failed somehow. Do you have packages installed? Upgrades on slower storage/devices can easily take 10-15 minutes without packages. Yesterday, I think it was, there was a thread from someone on a 1100 who powered off after 30m and later found it took about 45m to upgrade and install all packages.

I am not quite sure what that means. Normally an upgrade will reboot on their own, after downloading everything it needs, and finish installing after the reboot.
You might consider reinstalling.

@steveits Thank you.
I have never reinstalled Pfsense, I have been on the reinstall page and could only see the bit to buy support...did not realise the ticket area is below.
Thank you I get this done today.

@v2jtb Netgate doesn’t charge for the firmware.

Hi Steve,
Raised the ticket got the download and installed all ready to go thank you.
pfSense-plus-Netgate-2100-recovery-22.05-RELEASE-aarch64(1).img.gzSo back to the start.
Now trying to work out how to add the Netgate 2100 to my new provider Zen internet. I had a Draytek 130 with the Netgate 2100 and it worked well.
Zen sent me a Fritxbox 7530 that can't bridge really good router. I don't think that I can use it with the Netgate 2110.

@v2jtb What are you trying to do that won't work? Multiple routers can be chained. It does result in double NAT but that's generally irrelevant for outbound connections. For inbound usually the ISP router can be set to make pfSense the DMZ so all ports are forwarded (or, one must forward any incoming ports in the ISP router also).

Hi Steve, thank you again. The Netgate support have been brilliant and very quick.
I set the Draytek 130 and the the Netagte 2100 was setup as PPPOE and very was straight forward. Now adding pfBlockerNG to block ads and types of categories.
