We are in need of a backup internet and considering cellular usb device. We have hundreds of sg-1100. What is compatible with these? Any plug and play options?

No, FreeBSD and pfSense is still stuck in the late 2000’s when it comes to LTE dongle support. I can be made to work, but finding a dongle that works is extremely difficult at best, and you still have to do all sorts tweaks and scripts yourself. The EXACT opposite of plug and play.
So your best bet is by far to get a small ethernet capable 4G/LTE router and use it as a second gateway. Usually that means double NAT though, so that will be the biggest drawback.

Love the no fuss of using the official appliances :-)

@keyser Big sad face. Ok, ethernet capable devices it is then. Don't need to do double NAT, can do multi wan.

@keyser This is a specific issue with FreeBSD, not specifically a pfSense issue. There are a number of things that the FreeBSD core OS isn't capable of at the moment but are moving towards so hopefully in the coming years some of those things might be.... more capable?
