Anyone Tried Bell Canada Fibe w/Home Hub 3000???

Re: How to get Bell Fibe in Quebec/Ontario (Internet and IPTV) working with pfSense
I was reading the above article - which is very well documented. The article above explains the setup and configuration for a Bell Fibe connection with a Home Hub (HH) 2000 - which is what I have now. Bell is actually in the process of laying fiber ethernet down in my neighbourhood. I'm eager to get switched over to actual 'fiber to the home', but I would also like to implement a Netgate appliance and pfSense SW for the wire wall instead of the Home Hub 3000 (HH 3K). My only question is - has anyone been able to get this to work with the HH 3K and if so, how did you handle the PVR (which is connected to the HH 3K via coax)??? Obviously if I replace the HH 3K with a Netgate appliance I'm going to need a way to connect the main PVR so that the TVs work (I have one LCD in the family room connected via the coax PVR and a second LCD in the den connected with a wireless PVR). My understanding from Bell Canada is that I need the coax-connected PVR in order to save video recordings (I like to record The Good Fight) and to permit the wireless TVs to work as well. I could be wrong on that, but that's how I understand it from Bell support. So just wondering if anyone has tried this and if so, how did they handle the coax-connected PVR???
Thanks to everyone in the community - I'm really enjoying this forum!

I am on Bell Fibe (FTTH) and have a HH3000 and a 500Mb/s service. I have my Netgate SG-1100 (using pfSense) configured for PPPOE and plugged into one of the HH3000 ports. My SG-1100 logs in using my Bell credentials and I obtain an IP address separate from my HH3000. I am also set up for DDNS using that IP address. My entire home network runs on the SG-1100. I have a WiFi access point on the network for my use. Guests use the HH3000 WiFi and they do not see my network. My Bell PVR is the only other device direct connected to the HH3000 (it could use the wireless connection). It all works well.

@192-168-1-0 ... and to be clear, the Bell PVR uses an Ethernet cable connected to the HH3000. There is no coax in my system

@192-168-1-0 Very good - thank you for the info, MUCH APPRECIATED! I kinda thought that was one way to do it, so I think that's how I'm going to do it.
I did do some further digging into this and it appears Bell might be moving to a new "cloud PVR" system...??? I'm not sure if I understand it correctly, but it appears Bell has a new wireless TV streaming device. It has no capture/recording abilities - it's just a streaming device. It appears that once I upgrade, I might get this new "Cloud PVR"/streaming device. I read one article that said it uses a specific SSID for it's networking back to the HH, but there is no info on the name of the SSID they are using or any of the details. I guess if I install it in the same manner that you have, it will probably work.

Thank you again for the info - it's really appreciated!

@192-168-1-0 Okay - thanks for that too.
My HH 2K is currently plugged into the 2x analog trunks coming into the house (Bell bonds them within the HH 2K). From there, my only cabled device is a data switch that I have for pretty much everything that is cabled into the network. There is a secondary cable connection, which is coax as I said and that runs to the TV in the family room. For some reason, if the cabled/coax PVR loses power or stops working, then I lose all of the wirelessly connected PVRs. It seems the HH 2K is really dependent on the coax-connected PVR. The Bell support person told me one time it's what stores my recordings (from any in-home PVRs, wireless) and so when I play them back, it comes off of the coax-connected PVR. As I say, if I lose the coax-connected PVR, I have no TV at all - just internet at that point. With the websites I use for watching TV - I almost don't need the "tv service" from Bell anymore. I'm considering dropping it, but I will wait and see what options they offer me to get off of the analog trunks and onto fiber...
