I have found information in some Netgate manuals that describe the following:
LED Pattern: Left LED only green = Flashes with 1Gb traffic, solid with link.

On my Netgate 4100, it is the right LED that lights up green when the interface is set to 1Gb.
Isn't there an error in the manual?

It depends which port you are using on the 4100. But on both the combo ports and the 2.5G LAN ports the right LED lights green to indicate link and flashes to indicate data.
The left LED indicates the link speed. On the combo ports it is orange at 1G and green at 100M.
On the LAN ports it is green at 2.5G, Orange at 1G and off at 100M and 10M.

For some reason that doesn't appear to be in the 4100 manual, I'll see about adding it.

Manuals for other devices should not be applied.

Thanks for the reply, that was a bit of a different story.
Nice to get the facts straight. ;o)

          Edit:
Well, I think about what you write, shouldn't there be the same logic in the way it is displayed, both for Combo port and LAN port.
If the Combo port were to follow the logic of the LAN port, the color should be Green at 1 Gb and Orange at 100 Mb.
This means that the highest speed on both types of ports is green, and subsequently orange for the next step down.

I might have chosen that too but I don't think that was a choice we ever had. That just how the LEDs are wired.
Blue for 2.5G would have been nice. 😉
