Netgate 1100 Wan speed slow
-
Hi everyone,
Just bought a netgate 1100 which I am using as firewall/router. I have a 1gbps fiber connection and I did my research regarding the through out speed. However it’s advertised to get wan speeds of 600ish which I find acceptable. However running stock pfsense just created vlan300 for my internet provider. I am getting speeds between 350 and 200mbps. Directly from the modem i am getting 900ish speeds.
My infra at home is modem>pfsense>1gbps switch.
What can I do to improve lots of topics talk about hardware offloading but this does nothing major.
Are there any tweaks I still can do or did I simply buy the wrong model?Could anyone advise.

@rabw To be blunt it was probably too low of a model. The 1100 has only one switch and uses VLANs to isolate the ports. Their store page shows, for "firewall":
IPERF3 Traffic: 607 Mbps IMIX Traffic: 191 Mbps
...IMIX being supposedly more like a mix of real world traffic. Probably expect between those. The "L3 Forwarding" number is just switching without routing or NAT so not terribly relevant.
The 2100 has a similar CPU but has a separate NIC for WAN so can handle higher throughput. That should be able to get to 500-600 Mbps or so per posts here. I have one and can get to 480 on my 400 Mbps Comcast connection (which they overprovision about 20%). The 2100 is listed as:
IPERF3 Traffic: 964 Mbps IMIX Traffic: 249 Mbps
..so 500-600 on a download speed test is about halfway between those.
The 4100 is better for a 1 Gbps connection.
