      Hi all,
I have gotten a vdsl modem as a sfp module and insert it into my pFsense 2100 combo WAN port. The details about the SFP module are enclosed.

After I read the description of the 6100 today I have little hope that the SFP module will work.

Is it the same for the 2100? Does someone know how to enable SFP?

@febu We had a ticket in TAC a few months ago with this device and it worked, sometimes? They were having a few issues with it but I cannot remember the details on it specifically.

According to the notice about the 6100 device, it is not
            like you think, it is different situation there, because;

Limited to 10G link speed (no 1G support).

But you will be needing 1 GBit/s link speed for that
SFP VDSL modem! So this is the real problem.

That looks exactly like the Proscend module whioch we know can work:
              https://forum.netgate.com/topic/165393/proscend-180-t-vdsl2-sfp-support
              And specifically in the 2100.

It does have a significant issue though; the module has to be re-inserted after rebooting the 2100 otherwise it will not link.

Also note the highly unusual VLAN required to engage the correct modem setup.

@stephenw10 No, inserting the module after the 2100 has started.

@stephenw10 Do you know anything about the IPv6 Configuration Type and VDSL/IP4 PPPoE? I choose "none" but have seen others that choose DHCP6 and SLAAC.

The status of the WAN looks like:
                          IPv4 Address
                          yyyy.xx.zzz.66
                          Subnet mask IPv4
                          255.255.255.255
                          Gateway IPv4
                          yyy.xx.zzz.145
                          IPv6 Link Local

I use that here and have it set to DHCPv6. I also have 'Use IPv4 connectivity as parent interface' set.

I have 'prefix only set' too because that's what my ISP provides. And the correct prefix delegation size value.

If you enable dhcpv6 debugging you will see a lot more information. Also check the ppp logs to see if there is any v6 data there.

@stephenw10 regardless of the dhcp6 setting none or dhcp6 and ipv4 prefix, the connection to ISP turns off about every 2nd hours. Is there a good article about logging the communication? I don't know how to do it.

Does it pull a DHCPv6 lease in either situation?

First thing I would check is the ppp and system logs when it disconnects. That should show you some sort of reason for the disconnection. No additional logging should be required to get that.

                                  PPP and Systemlog enclosed.

Hmm is that when it fails or when you connect it?

That looks like a successful re-connection.

It looks like it's trying to send v6 details via PPPoE directly but that shouldn't matter if it's pulling details OK via DHCP.

I will contact the ISP. It is the fail with the reconnect.
