      Hi,

      at this time i am filling static ip entries in DHCP Static Mappings.
      Is it normal that i can enter the same ip multiple times in this list? Should not the gui prevent from entering this fail configuration? I did so because of a careless mistake and was wondering that this is possible.

      thx christian

        @chris1284 you mean you set say 192.168.9.100 for aa:bb:cc:00:00:01, and you also set 192.168.9.100 for aa:bb:cc:00:00:02

        While that is prob not a very good setup, the first mac to get the ip should win in such a setup. It shouldn't hand out a duplicate if the first mac/IP is active.

        Some sort of warning that your doing that might not be a bad idea.

            @chris1284 well yeah in that scenario - which one does it get?

            But with duplicate IP, the first mac to ask should get it. As long as the other one is not using it currently

              @johnpoz
              they are switching, that's my observation:

              1. devices1 -> request -> gets ip
              2. device2 comes up -> request -> gets ip
              3. devices1 -> request -> gets ip....

              if both are online both, the last device that requested an ip gets ip

                @chris1284 so your saying it hands out a duplicate IP?

                Did you disable the ping check, does the device not answer ping?

                The way it should work, is if someone has it - and 2nd guy comes in - the dhcp server should ping - if there is an answer for that IP then it shouldn't hand it out to the 2nd guy..

                    @chris1284 when I get a chance I will try and duplicate this.
