We are excited to announce our newest secure networking appliance, the Netgate 8200 with pfSense Plus software – the fastest Intel Atom-based firewall we offer, in a whisper-quiet rack mount configuration. We expect it will be a popular edge gateway solution for remote offices, edge deployments, managed service providers, and enterprise networks.

@mleighton Dang it! I should have waited 3 months before buying my 6100! 8-core CPU. Awesomeness.

Same thing happened to me with the 6100. I bought a 7100 the day before the 6100 was announced.
It would be nice if there was a coming soon notice.

              Just to still curiosity:

What, if one would buy a system one day before the coming-soon notice?
Will then a coming-soon-coming-soon notice be requested?

I feel your pain, but a coming-soon notice would not prevent you from a "to-early-buy"in any case.

At the other end, if there would be a coming soon notice, who defines "soon"?
Is "soon" tomorrow, next week, next month/year?
What, if device is still not available after announced date?
A lot of companies do not announce a fixed date for new devices/versions, postpones can be caused by many issues.

              Regards

The writing is usually on the wall when the previous product goes EOL. In this case, the 7100 was marked EOL a few months ago. They certainly announced this before yesterday.

@cloudified The 8200 did have some "notice" with the 7100 going end of sales. The 5100 and 6100 overlapped.

Perhaps a stated End of Sales for each model would work. All of the companies I deal with at work have "End of Sales/Life/Support" statements which allows us to make future decisions. Even if they do not announce what the replacement will be or when.

For the record I am happy with the 7100, The 6100 would have been quieter.

@andyrh Don't think your reply was meant for me. I literally just said the same thing.
