      Hi,

with the AVAHI daemon I can successfully find and use bonjour devices on different subnets. E.g. an

      avahi-browse -rt _airplay._tcp

shows AppleTVs on other subnets. I want to replace Avahi with PIMD. I followed all instructions I was able to find. Leave things to default. Bind all interfaces for the VLANs to it. Have a default BSR and RPC. Status sometimes shows some groups but only the ones on the LAN interface, not any devices (like the AppleTV) on the other one. I have a floating rule allowing IPv4, UDP to 224.0.0.0/4 with allow IP options enabled.

Still: Once I turn off AVAHI I cannot find the devices on other subnets. What am I missing?

I tcpdumped on the VLAN in question. With avahi off I do not see any multicast packets to port 5353 coming from the pfsense. No matter what configuration I do in PIMD.

Once I enable AVAHI however I see tons. Something with pimd is not working (at least here) and I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
