I recently bought a used XG-7100 netgate appliance. Apologies for my confusion on these issues or if they are in a FAQ somewhere already.

My questions around the subscription are several after looking at the subscriptions page:

      1. Does the pfsense+ TAC lite subscription follow the platform?

      2. If the answer to #1 is "no" should I select pfsense+ Home subscription or is there a way to get a new TAC Lite?

      3. When the platform EOLs in 12-24 do I need to change the pfsense+ subscription to Home then? Or should I do that now?

      4. If I sell a pfsense platform do I need to unregister my subscription?

      Thanks in advance.

      Michael

Any subscriptions are tied to the hardware so it would still apply.

In the case of Netgate hardware it will always be eligible for software upgrades for as long as the device is supportable. If you need a reinstall image for it you can always open a ticket with us to get that.

Thank you for your reply. Do you recommend a reinstall to ensure that the system has not been compromised? Or is a factory reset sufficient?

@michael-2 The factory reset just uses a default config file. A reinstall is safest and ought to get you ZFS.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

Yup, I would certainly do a full reinstall.
