I updated my SG-3100 yesterday (and my test VM too) from 22.05 to 23.01.
What I noticed at both systems: the session for the web access is canceled after a certain period of time.
Until to this firmware version I used to login to the dashboard and stayed there sometimes for several days.
Since 23.01 the session ends after xxx? hours/minutes and a new login is required.

Bug or feature? If feature, is the session timeout value somewhere adjustable?
I know, minor issue, but... 😊

    Regards

The timeout can be adjusted on System > User Manager, Settings tab. It's been there for years and nothing really changed in this release in that area.

        😵 Ooops.
Cant remember that I did set this some years ago...
Anyhow, if so, the setting was overwritten.
I did search in "General Setup" and "Advanced", but not in user manager. 🙄
Thanks for pointing to right direction.

        Regards

The value shouldn't have changed on its own there, it is empty by default which leads to a timeout of 240 minutes. If you want to disable it you can set it to 0 but that's not a good idea.

What value should it have had? And what value did it have after upgrade?

@jimp My sessions seem to be timing out after few hours, despite the timeout being set to 1800 minutes.

@jimp : Dashboard never dies out before updating, even when not at the page over weekend.
When in other screens it dies after ??? minutes/hours.
But after updating to 23.01 the timeout field was blank (default).

The second issue I noticed is that the one reported here.

That my CP modifications are gone, that did I expect, I modified the pages and can use QR codes again.

Also the UPS setting in nut was changed. After updating I always got a "UPS qnapups is unavailable" at console.
Actually I need to reconfigure the connection:
Old entry for nut in 22.05 XML:
              <type>local_usb</type>
              <usb_driver>usbhid-ups</usb_driver>

              Now in 23.01 its
              <type>remote_apcupsd</type>
              <remote_addr>192.168.2.1</remote_addr>
which is the IP of the pfSense.
The UPS is conncted by USB to the appliance, but setting from 22.05 will not work any longer.

Thats currently all I noticed with 23.01, update was smooth (I have had requested and downloaded the recovery image in advance, so I was relaxed 😊 ).

              Regards

@ebcdic said in Session timeout adjustable in 23.01?:

@jimp My sessions seem to be timing out after few hours, despite the timeout being set to 1800 minutes.

Looking at the logs, I now suspect these apparent timeouts are not timeouts at all. My computer connects to the router with IPv6, and is using a "temporary" address. So if I refresh a page a few hours later, it may use a new temporary address and thus not appear to be logged in.

This might also explain why there are several php-fm processes hanging around on the router, if they are associated with expired temporary addresses.

Updated: no, that's not it. I started a session using the IPv4 numeric address, and it timed out too.

I've occasionally seen a session end earlier than expected but not consistently.

Any events in the logs around the time the session unexpectedly expired?
