      Hi,

I've had a SG-1100 for a couple of years now and was looking for some more CPU and memory umph to run some extra packages, and I found a used SG-3100.

      A couple of questions:

      • Do I need a new license for Plus or can I move my license over since I won't be using the 1100?
      • I only use the WAN and LAN ports on the 1100 - if I import my config backup from the SG-1100 will it figure out the LAN and WAN interface name changes or do I need to manipulate the XML?

Afaik the Plus license is included in an appliance!?
So you can use - if you like - both appliances.
For help in transferring I would ask the TAClite support.

        Regards

@aram535 what @FSC830 said. They’ll convert the config for you for free. The reason is , iirc, the 3100 has a switch will try to import the 1200’s switch config. Otherwise an import would work and you just reassign the two interfaces.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

I submitted a ticket, hopefully they'll accept the ticket as part of lite and respond.

I'm not planning on using the switch port of the 3100 so that shouldn't be a problem.

Just WAN and OPT? Hmm, interesting. That should work, but the switch config might still import. There is however a "Preserve Switch Configuration" checkbox to keep the 3100 switch config. The goal would be to remove the VLANs on the 1100's ports though, not really sure if that would but I'd expect Netgate would convert it for you. I suppose another option would be to restore sections of the configuration one at a time.
