I noticed on the 23.01 upgrade notes it states: "If a device relies on the PCI bus, such as an add-on Wireless card, then consider the impact of upgrading to 23.01 where that will not be available (NG 9622)."
      https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/releases/23-01.html#errata-known-hardware-issues

I have my pfSense rig on a Dell Latitude E6420 with an i7 2620M CPU @ 2.70GHZ and 8GB RAM with an Express Card Slot and an onboard Intel® 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection. I use the Express Card slot with a Sonnet Technologies Presto Gigabit Ethernet Pro ExpressCard/34 with a Broadcom chip (compatible with pfSense) connected to my WAN side (LAN side is connected to the onboard NIC).

My question is: If I upgrade to 23.01, will I lose the function of my Express Card adapter? Or do the notes above only pertain to NETGATE older Hardware e.g. Netgate 1100 and Netgate 2100. The notes are a little confusing.

      Thanks

@frankzappa that’s only for those models.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

@frankzappa 23.01/2.7 is FreeBSD 14 though so you might double check that supports your cards if you’re concerned.
