      Hi,

I attempted upgrading from 22.05 to 23.01 and it failed. Then I re-installed 22.05 and I cannot install packages or upgrade to 23.05. So I got the installer for 23.01 from Netgate and now I am unable to install it.

I have tried to run recovery several times:

      run usbrecovery
      switch to partitions #0, OK
      mmc1(part 0) is current device

      MMC erase: dev # 1, block # 0, count 4194304 ...

      I keep getting this error:

Trying to mount root from ufs:/dev/ufsid/63e6b2a98b3567af [rw,noatime]...

@emmaylots “integrity check failed” sounds like the USB stick has a problem, if I’m reading that right? Can you try another?

If you’re on 22.05 set the update branch to the version you’re on, e.g. Previous not Current, to install /update packages.

If you’re on an 1100/2100 they blocked online updating to 23.01 last night.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

          @steveits

Thanks, it seems something might be wrong either with writing the new 23.01 image to disk or the image itself. I used the old 22.05 image and wrote it to flash and it worked okay.

How do I set the update branch to Previous? Tried editing some config file but it didn't work

See the error I got with 23.01

See the error I got with 23.05.

23.01? 23.05 is the bleeding edge dev version.

              Thank you. I meant 23.01.

              I've started re-installing 22.05, I'll stick with it for the next 1 year 😁

@emmaylots Personally I would not wait that long, but I understand why one would. There shouldn't be any issues doing a fresh install of 23.01 on the Netgate 1100. If you're still having trouble installing it, open a ticket with TAC and they should be able to assist.

Whatever hardware you're on if you are not on a 3100 I would install from the 23.01 install image (request in the link in my signature) and go ZFS.

There is no reason to use UFS on an 1100.
