I hope this is a proper category, seeing as the documentation uses NAT for that specific problem.

My particular problem is that the CPE's private IPv4 subnet is already assigned to a pfsense VLAN and I can change neither (devices beyond my control are configured statically with that subnet on both the CPE side and on the PfSense VLAN), and thus cannot create a NAT rule that allows me to access the CPE in order to manage it without having to physically connect to it via a laptop.

My pfsense connects to the internet through the CPE via PPPoE passthrough, and that is what makes the NAT necessary, but, because of the common address range, unconfigurable.

This seems to be beyond my (feeble) grasp. Does anyone have any ideas?
