Error updating repositories on Netgate 2100
-
Hi I just unpacked a Netgate device form the box and cannot upgrade??
Via some forums I found some code but nothing helps.
pkg-static: https://pkg01-atx.netgate.com/pkgpkg+https://repo.netgate.com/pkg/pfSense_plus-v23_01_aarch64-pfSense_plus_v23_01/packagesite.txz: Authentication error
Unable to update repository pfSense

@nick-loenders There was a problem upgrading to 23.01 on older 2100s so they turned off the repos temporarily.
https://forum.netgate.com/topic/178049/pfsense-plus-23-01-updates-on-the-1100-and-2100-systems/Edit: if you want 23.01 you can install via https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/solutions/netgate-2100/reinstall-pfsense.html.

But without it I cannot install any packages?

@nick-loenders if you are on 22.05 then you need to pick the update branch for 22.05, which would normally now be the Previous branch. Does that work for you? Otherwise installing the wrong version’s package tends to break things.
They’re working on the 23.01 issue.

@steveits NO that does not work as it is/was already like this:
Via code same s****t
pkg install pfSense-pkg-openvpn-client-export
Updating pfSense-core repository catalogue...
Fetching meta.conf: 100% 163 B 0.2kB/s 00:01
Fetching packagesite.pkg: 100% 2 KiB 1.7kB/s 00:01
pkg: No trusted public keys found

@nick-loenders Yeah in hindsight that makes sense.
Then all I can suggest is to be patient. I believe I saw one comment they were testing a fix, but at minimum they’re working on it.
The issue was causing the routers to not boot during/after upgrade so kinda critical for those customers. The block unfortunately catches up other 1100/2100 users.

Here's the info I received from Netgate Support:
https://forum.netgate.com/topic/178049/pfsense-plus-23-01-updates-on-the-1100-and-2100-systems
From what I can tell, this may also be affecting updating the repositories too. I just did the same update on a SG-3100 with no issues, but the 2100 I have pushes back an error when attempting any form of update.

@rhammondwtg It sounds like they're working on adding a check to look for routers with the small partition (referenced in your link) and stopping the upgrade. That will let everyone else upgrade safely. But in the meantime it's off, so those of us with early-release models aren't left with a non-functioning router. So, manual (re)install, or wait.
