Migrating from SG-5100 to 4100
-
Hello,
I just ordered a new 4100 to replace my dead SG-5100.
Do I need to somehow convert the backup config from the 5100 or can I just import the 5100 config into the 4100 without any issues?
Thanks. -
@azdeltawye As long as the 4100 is the same or later pfSense version you can just import and pfSense will prompt to assign interfaces before the reboot.

There is some overlap between those devices. It would be possible to have only ix NICs assigned in the 5100 and that might then import directly which would be confusing.
It also can be difficult if you have VLANs or other sub interface types. Editing the config directly can be an easier option.
We can always assist with that if you open a ticket:

Thanks for the response.
Yes, I'm using three different hardware interfaces with a handful of VLANs. I'll probably open a ticket for help with the conversion. Thanks again!
