This is only my second time updating my 2100 and first via USB recovery so please excuse the noobiness.

I have a USB stick with 23.01 from TAC. In the currently running 22.05, I have pfBlockerNG-devel. My understanding is it's best practice to remove additional packages, keeping their config, before upgrading.

My question is, in 22.05, if I remove the pfBlockerNG-devel package but keep its config, backup the system config, then copy this system config.xml to the USB, will this pfBlockerNG-devel package config be used when installing the updated, non-devel pfBlockerNG once 23.01 is installed? Or is there a better way to do this?

@terryzb The ARM device install copies the image to disk, overwriting it. Just restore your saved config file afterwards.

Edit: for pfB it will restore whatever is in the config file.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.
