Ping latency ?
-
Hello, I have fiber. If I don't use pfsense, I have a ping (latency) of 4ms.
When I integrate pfsense into my network, the speed is really correct, but the ping is doubled (between 8 and 10ms). (test carried out on speedtest.net in 1Gbits ethernet connection).Without pfsense my throughput is 900Mbits. With pfsense, my speed is 800 / 850Mbits, it's very correct I think.
When I look at the monitoring, everything is fine, the processor never exceeds 15%, and the RAM does not exceed 9% of use.
Is the increase in latency normal?
I use my old macbook pro 2011 :
Intel Core i5 à 2,4 GHz
8Go RAM
SSD 512G
1 ethernet 1Gb from motherboard for LAN
1 ethernet 1Gb Thunderbolt for WANNo packages, just the basic pfsense last stable version.
How to solve this problem ?
Thank you so much. -
@mathais you haven’t given much details.
- What are your pfsense specs? Using official hardware or a white box?
- What packages if any do you have installed (pfblocker, Suricata, snort)

Hi,
Still having this latency.
Maybe it's normal ?In your pfsense, do you have the same problem ?
Does the ping increase slightly after pfsense ?Thanx
