      I just logged in to my pfsense router and it just showed me a popup regarding copyright then another asking to take a survey. Where did those popups come from ?! I haven't installed a version in a while and I've never seen those popup before. How do they do that? Does pfsense phone home occasionally?

        @blankman There was a thread a couple of weeks ago. Basically, yes it shows at the first install and when there are updates to the text, and they change the copyright year each year. It's not that new, maybe a few years give or take?

        Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
        When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

            @blankman They happen...

            1. when you update the OS/Firmware
            2. when you factory reset the system
            3. possibly also when you restore from a backup

                @blankman it will also do it on the first login of the calendar year I believe.

                    @rcoleman-netgate said in Popups when loggin in to pfsense:

                    Not quite, but close.

                    It will display the popup if any part of the text changes. We change the copyright year in the text around the first of the year, so the first time someone logs in after that copyright year gets bumped, they'll see the popup again.
